“…Nostalgia - it’s delicate, but potent. Teddy told me that in Greek, “nostalgia” literally means “the pain from an old wound.” It’s a twinge in your heart far more powerful than memory alone. This device isn’t a spaceship, it’s a time machine. It goes backwards, and forwards… it takes us to a place where we ache to go again. It’s not called the wheel, it’s called the carousel. It let’s us travel the way a child travels - around and around, and back home again, to a place where we know are loved”…
Today’s incredible presentation of Adora with Don Draper was drawn by artist José Quintero from Mexico. Detail below.
José is an illustrator, comic artist and frustrated musician - rebel without a cause, & father of his own daughter Buba. Here is his Planeta Buba series. His blog, his tumblr, his DeviantArt portfolio. The 2 art pieces are based on ‘The Carousel’, which is my favorite scene from Mad Men & it was done after a request on the Adora Art Wish List. I blogged it on grow-a-brain when I first saw it in 2007.
Muchas gracias, José! Este es de hecho una de mis piezas más favorito de todo el proyecto hasta ahora.
